Another Birthday

Tag: UncategorizedTed @ 11:46 am

I had a good birthday yesterday.  I took the day off from work and just relaxed.  Jon and Erin took me out to dinner.  We had sushi.  Then we went to see the new Iron Man movie.  They really did a good job on it.  We thoroughly enjoyed it.  To finish off the evening, we had some of the ice cream birthday cake that Jon and Erin got for me.  The card they got for me says it all:

are good for you.

Dear Ted.
What a shock. I remember when you first moved to Granger Lake and Jeannie got into real estate in our office. Dave Wallace passed this info along to me. You and Erin are in my prayers.

Ted&JeannieBesides being my loving wife for the last 33 years, Jeannie was my best friend. Her boldness and outgoing personality were the perfect complement to my caution and shyness, She will be sorely missed.

Jeannie Michalik Passed Away

Ted & JeannieMy wife, Jeannie, passed away this morning after a long struggle with cancer. She was a fighter. When the lung cancer was first diagnosed, they said she only had eighteen months. She ended up doubling that and kept a good attitude the whole time. Thanks to all who kept her in your thoughts.

Flag Draped Coffin & Taps

Tag: PoliticsTed @ 7:47 am

Flag Draped CoffinsI recently got an email from a friend with a link to which explains the symbolism behind the folding of the flag after removal from the coffin at a military funeral.  His comment about the site was “This is great!”  I sent back the photo at the left with my opinion that the reality is not so great.  I’m thankful my son-in-law didn’t come back from Iraq this way.  The pain and suffering caused by the stupid Iraq War has been enormous.  It needs to end now before any more of our children’s lives are wasted by Bush’s pitiful attempts to save face.

WP Theme & Photo Gallery Working

Tag: ComputersTed @ 8:18 am

I found a theme I like: Stardust by Tommaso Baldovino. I found some problems with it when I installed the Gallery2 plugin. After a few tweaks, I have it working correctly with my photo gallery.

Hello world!

Tag: ComputersTed @ 12:25 am

Welcome to my blog. I initially tried to set up a site here with PHP-Nuke, but it kept getting hacked by idiots with more time on their hands than brains in their heads. I tried Joomla with another site I run and although it seems more secure, it was hard to include pictures in the posts.

In discussions with members of a third site I run, Joomla was discarded as an option. I then tried WordPress on that site and so far most seem pleased with the result. One dissenter said we should just use static HTML. Although that is the most secure, I just don’t have the time to maintain a site like that.

WordPress isn’t perfect, but a couple of plugins gets it pretty close. Close enough that I’m going to use it for my personal site.
